I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your seminar in Bethlehem. You did a wonderful job and I learned so much. My oldest daughter is in 9th grade and your notebook will be a valuable resource for us!
I have read and re-read the notebook.
Thanks again for doing such an incredible job! " - Debbie
"Kathleen,
Had to let you know...John and I went up to Piedmont for a visit and to pick up an admissions packet (he's probably joint enrolling all 4 of his remaining HS credits there next year). When the Director of Admissions and Joint Enrollment Admissions Counselor saw the transcript/portfolio I did (based on your notebook/seminar), they asked if they could use it as an example for other homeschool parents if they took John's name off of it!!!
I am SO grateful for your seminar, and for that notebook. It took a LOT of work to build his portfolio/transcript, but I would have NEVER known where to start were it not for you!" - Carlene
"I attended one of the first seminars & still refer back to my binder weekly!" - Anne
"I just wanted to let you know how much my husband and I enjoyed your seminar Thursday night. When I left I told my husband that I could not think of a single thing that was not covered. We both enjoyed it immensely!" - Teresa
"Having the binder in hand while you spoke was a great help. Everything you covered is written down for me to look back on tomorrow & next week! Thanks for giving such detailed hand-outs." - Sharon
"Believe me, what Kathleen says is the way to go. The transcript we received from her daughter is the easiest to read and most concise transcript we have ever received - from a home school or public school. Our admissions people would love it if all schools presented transcripts like her daughter's." - from a college admissions counselor
In case you didn’t hear this, one of the mother’s from your last visit [to Carrollton] used your suggestions for the portfolio. Her daughter graduated early, applied at UWG and was accepted. [The admissions counselor] mentioned that her portfolio was the best he’d ever seen and wished all homeschoolers did them in that fashion. She’s just one example, but since her acceptance, Emily has done very well in the honors program which reflects brightly for other homeschoolers following behind. It seems that the portfolio issue is key ingredient for homeschoolers here and we recommend your suggestions to others getting ready for those high school years to begin their preparations before their children start high school so they will have good records. Well, thought you would like to hear what a good influence and help your seminar was here.
Thank you,
Wendy Slattery
Thank you so much for all the information you shared at the seminar here in Richardson. I spent much of a weekend re-formatting Craig’s transcript ... and creating his resume of extracurricular activities. Your examples were so helpful. It really helped my thinking when you said, “The transcript shows your child’s grades; the resume helps people see who your child is.” God orchestrated many things to provide Craig with this opportunity, but I was introduced to the idea at your seminar, and your tools were priceless in helping us prepare the application. And another great thing is, now the transcript and resume have been created; updating them will not be so much work.
